m-Government services in Malta
The Ministry for Information Technology and Investment of Malta aims to offer e-Government services through mobile phones. Mobiles are extremely popular and widespread in Malta, reaching more than 60% of the population.
Under this initiative, users of mobile phones can access several government services with their devices. They can get different type of messages via SMS, for example acknowledgements of customers complaints, notifications for license-renewal or notifications for Direct Credit Payments from the Department of Social Security.
The m-Government initiative brings together some key partners from both public and private sector, including Vodafone, Go Mobile and the Malta Communications Authority.
