Access2Democracy, principles and practice of participatory e-democracy
Access2Democracy is a non-profit organization founded in 2004 and established both in Athens and New York.
The assumption behind the initiative is that capabilities of new technologies can be effectively used to the benefit of democracy in our globalized world, by connecting people to decision-making and by offering the means for deliberation and participation. It’s institutional logo is a symbol of this vision, representing the people from the five continents talking face-to-face with each other.
The organization works with governments, NGOs and international bodies to support activities in the field of e-democracy and within the sphere of Global Governance. Access2Democracy runs a series of cutting-edge deliberative policy discussions and facilitates debate, design and testing of new technologies, techniques and methods to support on-line deliberation and collaboration.
Some of the projects that Access2Democracy completed include ‘e-Dialogos: Here your voice counts’, ‘e-Voices Cyprus: Let’s talk’, and ‘e-partnerships’.
