Seven barriers that block or constrain progress on e-Government

A very interesting project funded by The European Commission investigates the legal, organisational, technological and other barriers to expanding effective e-Government services using the Internet. The study identifies and explores key issues that can constrain e-Government growth, drawing on real-life case studies.

As part of the research, the Barriers to eGovernment project team has already identified seven key categories of barriers that can block or constrain progress on eGovernment: ‘leadership failures’; ‘financial inhibitors’; ‘digital divide’; ‘poor coordination’; ‘workplace and organizational inflexibility’; ‘lack of trust’; and ‘poor technical design’.

eChallenges 2007 – Call for Papers
