An e-Government Laboratory in Greece

e-government laboratory logoWe would like to introduce in this post the e-Government Laboratory of the University of Athens (UoA/eGovLab), a research unit within the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications and a leading academic R&D group for e-Government in Greece.

Led by Prof. Panagiotis Georgiadis, Associate Professor in the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of the University of Athens, and with a current staff of around 10 doctoral and post-doctoral researchers, the UoA/eGovLab group also provides business planning and operations management know-how for e-Government service schemes, drawing from experience in deployment projects with the Greek public sector.

UoA/eGovLab brings together technological skills and know-how from multiple areas of R&D in Information and Communication Technologies with a focus on deployment and integration of e-Government services. Recent R&D activities include different projects, like SMARTGOV, a two-year EU-funded research and development project focused on the development of a toolset for deploying electronic administrative forms.

UoA/eGovLab has set up and moderates the e-Gov.gr site on e-Government advances and best practices in EU and world-wide.
