mDubai, egovernment services through mobiles
As part of its eGovernment strategy, Dubai eGovernment offers an innovative channel for communication between citizens and Government Departments via SMS. The initiative is called mDubai.
‘Pull’ services allow any interested user to initiate a communication inquiring on Government Services by sending a keyword along with the parameter to a Dubai eGovernment short code. A response is immediately sent. Users can inquire for example about trade license status, traffic fines, or flight information.
‘Push’ services on the other hand, allow customers to receive information from various Government Departments through SMS.
mDubai appears to bring advantages for both the public and� government departments. People no longer have to make physical counter visits to inquire about routine matters, and government can save resources that would otherwise have been deployed to handle these issues.
